The Winchendon School The Winchendon School Winchendon, MA Winchendon, MA Full-time Full-time $35,000 - $45,000 a year $35,000 - $45,000 a year 7 days ago 7 days ago 7 days ago 10 month position College Counselors work closely and collaboratively to ensure that students and their families are thoroughly prepared and supported throughout the college search process.
Primary responsibilities and expectations include:
Work closely with students to develop their confidence and self-awareness during a decision-making process, assisting them in identifying their strengths and their areas of growth.
Collaborate with students and their families to identify a range of colleges that provide the best intellectual, cultural, and financial fit.
Create a school letter of recommendation for each assigned counselee, drawing from all available sources to provide a meaningful context for matters on the transcript and a picture of that student.
Assist with various programs sponsored by the College Counseling Office and assume special projects and assignments as determined by the Director of College Counseling Organizing & maintaining student recommendation letters and transcripts Test Coordinator:
Assisting with the scheduling and running of standardized testing (ACT/SAT/AP/Duo).
Visit colleges regularly, and engage in professional development opportunities.
Other duties as assigned Qualifications (minimum requirements) Bachelors degree Familiar with independent schools and/or college admissions experience.
Strong communication skills (verbal and written) Sincere interest in working with students/families, and collaborating with colleagues.
Willingness and ability to learn the intricacies of various software platforms.
Ability to manage multiple projects in various stages of completion.
Must be a flexible, productive team member.
Demonstrated personal integrity, professional work ethic, a team player's attitude, a sense of humor, and an open mind.
Other duties include:
Duty team member.
Responsibilities include covering one night per week in the dorm and every fifth weekend on campus or as assigned.
Lead or assist with an afternoon creative program or sport in 1 out of 3 seasons.
Required to attend all faculty meetings, department meetings, and other meetings as required.
Attend all school functions, such as community meetings, formal school dinners, and other special events.
Complete advisor letters, and other forms of academic communication promptly and professionally.
Promote the development of character, community, and curiosity in all dealings with students, including enforcing school rules.
Be able to supervise and drive students in school-owned 12-14 passenger vehicles to off-campus events and be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Other duties may also be assigned to you as required.
